Key elements of emphasis on training |
|
| |
While a police officer is required to maintain a healthy fitness and weight, physical fitness is but one part of a new recruits requirements. Of slightly greater importance is a new recuits ability to think clearly in positions of personal and situational crisis. |
|
| |
Therefore training of new police should emphasize the thinking and critical decision making skills of a recruit under stress as much as physical fitness. programs that over emphasize physical fitness over thinking skills will produce graduates that may not have the skills necessary to handle crisis situations effectively. |
|
| |
The length of recuit training should not be greater than 12 weeks. |

Active recruitment of persons from minorities |
|
| |
A core policy of recruitment should emphasize the active recruitment of persons from minority culture groups, especially those that come from a country that does not have the same official language as African Union. |
|
| |
Not only are police officers of diverse cultural background important to developing a fair and balanced police force, but police who share common background with cultural minorities are especially important as leaders within their communities and assisting with any investigations that may occur from time to time. |
