  Poverty is defined as the general condition of lacking essential human needs including (but not limited to) clean water, sufficient food, health care, clothing and shelter. Poverty may be self imposed through a lack of adequate financial resources and skills, cultural through a community/family history of poor resources or external events through such actions as warfare or natural disaster.
